About the artist

Jöran Steinhauer is a German singer-songwriter and entertainer who grew up in Bochum, located in Germany's Ruhr area. He rose to prominence in Latvia in 2013 when his farewell song to the Latvian currency, Paldies Latiņam, became an overnight sensation.

With his band Aarzemnieki (Latvian for "Foreigner"), Jöran performed numerous concerts and represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the hit song Cake to Bake. The band released their debut album, Visi kopā, in the summer of 2017 and toured across Europe.

In 2019, Jöran launched his solo career, releasing his first songs independently. His single Mans suns ir Letiņš (My Dog is Latvian) once again achieved nationwide success in Latvia.

Jöran has also explored diverse creative avenues, collaborating with Japanese artist Masaki Nakagawa, releasing music with Italian influences, and venturing into acting. He gained attention for an investigative TV documentary exploring a potential family connection to the historical Latvian figure, Jānis Steinhauers, a renowned entrepreneur and social reformer.

Jöran Steinhauer regularly participates in international events, collaborating with organizations such as the German Embassy in Riga, the Goethe Institute, and the DAAD, often as a moderator or cultural ambassador.

In spring 2022, Jöran released his first English-language solo album, Jollytown, showcasing his various musical style and storytelling.

In 2023, Jöran launched LV81, becoming the first person to tour all 81 Latvian cities with special concerts designed to foster community and warmth. Thanks to collaborations with sponsors, these concerts are often free, spreading unity and joy across Latvia. Learn more at LV81.lv.

Fluent in five languages, Jöran also holds a degree in European Studies, further reflecting his passion for connecting people and cultures.
