The German singer-songwriter Jöran Steinhauer will be appearing as a contestant on the popular ZDF Saturday night show “Der Quiz-Champion” this coming Saturday (June 17, 2023, 8:15 PM).

In an exciting knowledge duel with five celebrities, the aim is to win the prize of 100,000 euros. The challenge is to outperform Anna Thalbach (literature and language), Sarah Wiener (nutrition), Marcel Reif (sports), Michael “Bully” Herbig (film and television), and Jens Riewa (current affairs) in their respective fields in the “toughest quiz in Germany”.
Jöran Steinhauer, who grew up in Bochum in the Ruhr area, gained popularity as a musician in the Baltic States in 2013. His farewell song for the Latvian currency, “Paldies Latiņam” (English: “Thank You, Little Lat”), became an overnight nationwide hit. The following year, he represented Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest with his band “Aarzemnieki”.

In 2017, “Aarzemnieki” released their debut album “Visi kopā” and performed numerous concerts across Europe.
In 2019, Jöran Steinhauer decided to release his first songs as a solo artist. His single “Mans suns ir Letiņš” (English: “My Dog is Latvian”) once again became a national success and topped the Latvian equivalent of the charts.
Subsequently, he collaborated with the Japanese artist Masaki Nakagawa, released several Italian songs, and produced a TV documentary about the historical Latvian entrepreneur and social reformer Jānis Šteinhauers. In addition to his music career, Jöran Steinhauer, who has a degree in European Studies, also works as a moderator at international events and regularly collaborates with the Goethe Institute or the German Embassy in Riga.
His first English solo album, “Jollytown,” was released in the spring of 2022.
The show will also be available to watch on the broadcaster’s media library afterwards.
